Yingling teams up with Attorney General’s office for Seniors Fraud Prevention event

GRAYSLAKE, Ill. – State Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, announced that he will be joining the Illinois Attorney General’s office to host a free fraud prevention event for local senior citizens.

“Older Illinoisans are among the most preyed upon by criminals, and it is important for members of the community to be aware of the current scams and techniques lawbreakers are using to take advantage of people,” Yingling said. “The Attorney General’s office has championed the fight to protect seniors from fraud, and by partnering with them, I’m better able to help seniors protect themselves against crime.”

Yingling will be hosting a representative from the Attorney General’s office on Tuesday, August 4 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Round Lake Area Park District’s Senior Center, located at 814 Hart Rd. in Round Lake. The representative will give a presentation on the various ways people can protect themselves from fraud and identity theft. This event is free and open to the public. RSVPs are not necessary, but they are appreciated. To RSVP or for more information, please contact Yingling’s full time constituent service office by phone at 847-231-6262.

“Many people often associate crimes against seniors as physical abuse from a caretaker or someone close to them, but fraud can go unnoticed and the consequences may be devastating,” Yingling said. “As an advocate for our area’s seniors, my goal is to continue supporting policy that protects them and hosting a variety of events that can assist and educate our aging community and make their lives easier.”

Yingling represents the 62nd District, which contains portions of Gages Lake, Grayslake, Hainesville, the Round Lake communities, Wauconda and Wildwood.
