Yingling to Hold Fremont Township Property Tax Assessment Seminar

ROUND LAKE BEACH, Ill. – Continuing his efforts to provide property tax relief to his constituents, state Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, is holding a Fremont Township Property Tax Seminar with Assessor Joe Herchenbach. The seminar will take place on Wednesday, July 10 at the Fremont Township Administration Office, located at 22385 W. Route 60 in Mundelein at 6:30 p.m. Attendees will hear from Assessor Herchenbach on how their properties are assessed, and will be walked through how to appeal their assessments, which can potentially lower their property taxes.

“With property taxes as high as they are, middle-class families need all the relief they can get,” said Yingling. “One of the ways to get property tax relief is by appealing your assessments. This seminar will provide attendees with information that will be crucial to them filing a successful appeal.”

Yingling has fought to provide property tax relief throughout his time in the General Assembly. He has pushed to make the Lake County assessor an elected position, which would bring accountability and transparency to the office. He has also advocated for consolidating units of local government, which would reduce property taxes. Most recently, Yingling was a major proponent for the creation of the Property Tax Relief Fund, which will allow for the creation of rebates for homeowners on the property taxes they pay.

“There is no issue more pressing to middle-class families than property taxes,” said Yingling. “The current property tax system has been too burdensome for families in my district and throughout Illinois. I am committed to getting my constituents property tax relief both in Springfield through legislation and in my district through seminars like this one.”
